About me
Leah Wheeling’s educational career includes fifteen years of passion filled work with Middle School students. Her teaching philosophy centers on one simple belief: elevate learners through wonder and play: opportunity drives engagement and success. Through high-energy, adventure-filled learning experiences, Leah creates an inclusive environment where every student can develop skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of lifelong physical activity. In addition to teaching, she serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Mary, mentors future educators, and remains actively involved in ND SHAPE leadership, conference presentations, standards development, and hosting online professional learning opportunities.
Leah's dedication to physical education has earned recognition at both the state and national levels, including being named the 2026 SHAPE America National Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year. She received the Governor's Innovative Educator Award (2024), and was named a North Dakota Department of Public Instruction Teacher of the Year Finalist (2025). Education only comes second to Leah’s Christ centered family time! Her kids Sarah (5) Michael (8) and Husband Thomas, provide the balance and fulfillment to this great adventurous life!
